Replica: Toyota MR2 Based Ferrari 360 Spyder

Clearly, not even your grandma would mistake this third-generation Toyota MR2 based replica for a real Ferrari but that doesn’t mean we’re not giggly impressed with its miniature 360 Spyder looks in the same way we were dazed a couple of months ago with the mini Smorche. If anything else it looks kinda cute –holy merde, I just said the “c” word… What I meant to say is it that looks endearing in a masculine, petrol-headed way. I think… Well, you know what I mean. -Follow the jump for more pictures

Toyota Avensis Scoop: Late April Fools Day Hoax?

Either Autoexpress is trying to repeat a previous webzine style hoax (Corvette Blue Devil) using plenty of duck tape and cardboards or someone’s seriously confused cause, what we’re seeing here is nothing more than badly camouflaged 2008 Toyota Corolla and not the next-generation Avensis. Check it out and tell us your opinion.

Top Gear Video: Future VW & Mercedes Classics

Richard Hammond recommends two German future classics: the 90’s VW Corrado VR6 and the 80’s Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3 16v. As Hammond rightly points out, the trick in choosing a future classic is finding a car young enough to still be good to drive and reliable and old enough to be forgotten. And while these two German-mobiles are surely forgotten by most, they're definitely going to be sought out by collectors in the near future. -BBC does not allow Video posting, so click here to see it

Peugeot 207 RWC & 307 RWC: Rugby World Cup 2007 Special Editions

Is the coolest headrest you’ve seen or what! Makes you wanna take a kick at it doesn’t it? The rugby shaped headrest belongs to the 207 RWC, a limited edition version created by Peugeot to celebrate the 2007 Rugby World Cup that’ll take place in France this autumn kicking off with the opening match between host France and Argentina on September 7 (see the whole program here). Headrests aside the 207 RWC also receives RWC logos in and out along with matching floor mats. The special edition Pug will be available with a 90Hp 1.6 HDi diesel engine and the new 95Hp 1.4 16v VTi (note this is a new 1.4-litre petrol engine co-developed with BMW/MINI and not the 90Hp 1.4 offered up until now).

The 207RWC is the second special rugby version that Peugeot has announced this year as a couple of months ago the French carmaker circulated the 307RWC. -More high-res pictures along with prices after the jump.

Rumorville: Mercedes To Have Approved Ocean Drive Production Version For 2011

While Mercedes-Benz was bluntly clear in its 2007 Detroit Show press release stating that the Ocean Drive Concept was a “one-off creation”, Motor Trend magazine is reporting otherwise. According to the American magazine, Mercedes has approved the S600-based Ocean Drive for production in the 2011 model year.

Last time we talked to Mercedes officials the Ocean Drive was nothing more, nothing less than a one-off study. Of course, the German carmaker could have had a change of mind due to the positive feedback from customers and dealers. However, allow us to play devils advocate here and note that besides the fact that four years from concept to reality is very long time, we can’t pinpoint a market segment for the Ocean Drive –a cabriolet version of the CL-Class would sound more logical. Bottom line, if we don’t see a second concept of the Ocean Drive over the next year, forget about it.
