Italdesign to reveal speedy but penny-wise hybrid car at Geneva motor show

Italdesign Giugiaro will reveal its latest concept of a speedy but fuel-efficient hybrid car at the Geneva motor show.

Italdesign-Giugiaro S.p.a , commonly called Italdesign, is a famous automobile designer and is a highly-specialized engineering company that is located in Turin, Italy.

It was founded in the year 1968 with its first name as Studi Italiani Realizzazione Prototipi S.p.A that worked in collaboration with the Volkswagen. At present, the company is recognized for the famous works of its subordinate, the Giugiaro Design, the home of the renowned car designer Giorgetto Guigiaro.

Today, with their innovative concept, Italdesign revealed that the hybrid coupe is a two-seater and can achieve a top speed on the road at 186 miles per hour, or 300 kilometers per hour. It can also be accelerated from an amazing zero to 62 miles per hour in less than 4 seconds.

Italdesign remained the concept anonymous until the Geneva motor show. As mentioned, the car manufacturer guarantees a fast and furious design on the coupe, but will be an ideal partner for fuel efficiency. The unnamed car can travel 117 miles per hour on a gallon of gasoline.

If you are interested with the car’s technical information, as to engine configuration and other revving mechanisms, you have to wait for its launching on Geneva.

According also to Italdesign, this coupe is shaped like a wedge, and is wrapped fully with aluminum and carbon, with its chassis covered with carbon fiber.

The New Ferrari 458 Italia

Ferrari has officially announced the upcoming 458 Italia, that will be replacing the outgoing F430. The new 458 is the latest of Ferrari’s mid-rear engine models and is a completely new car from it’s departing predecessor. While the car will not be able to be seen until this falls Frankfurt Motor Show, Ferrari officially made the 458 Itlalia official this morning. The 458 will feature a 4.5L direct inject V8 motor, the first of it’s kind to be mid-rear mounted in a Ferrari. In addition, the 458 will boast a few other first for Ferrari. The 458 will be the fastest production Ferrari to date, with a top-speed of 202mph. The 458 will also be eco friendly (using the term loosely) with a fuel range of 17.2mpg (not at 202mph!).

 The Detroit Audi e-tron Concept is 3.93 meter (154.72 in) long and 1.78 meter (70.08 in) wide but just 1.22 meter (48.03 in) tall two-seater; just a few months after the debut of the Audi e-tron Concept at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, this is now the second electric concept vehicle from the brand with the four rings. Audi is showing an uncompromising purist compact sports car with all-electric drive at the 2010 NAIAS. Lithium-ion batteries, located for an optimal center of gravity behind the passenger compartment and ahead of the rear axle, make an effective energy content of 45 kilowatt-hours available. This makes an operating range of up to 250 kilometers (155.34 miles) realistically possible.

Coupled with the Detroit Audi e-tron Concept's low gross weight of around only 1,350 kilograms (2976.24 lb), high-torque power units driving the rear wheels guarantee commensurate road performance. Two electric motors with a combined output of 150 kW (204 hp) and 2,650 Nm (1954.54 lb-ft) accelerate the coupe with ASF-design aluminum body from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in just 5.9 seconds. The Audi e-tron Concept accomplishes the sprint from 60 to 120 km/h (37.28 - 74.56 mph) in a mere 5.1 seconds.
As previously with the first Audi e-tron Concept car shown in Frankfurt, Audi again bases all components in this electric vehicle on an integral concept with many revolutionary details: a heat pump as an efficient means of heating up and maintaining the interior temperature. The drive system, power electronics and battery have innovative thermal management - crucial for maintaining a high operating range coupled with outstanding interior comfort.

The two electric motors, which have their own cooling system, are mounted on the rear axle. This special package, featuring a 40:60 weight distribution, ensures perfect balance, which contributes to the driving dynamics of the Audi e-tron Concept.
The trapeze of the single-frame grille dominates the distinctly wedge-shaped front end and is flanked by two large air intakes. The top of the grille merges into the flat strips of the adaptive matrix beam headlight modules with their clear glass covers. All light units use ultra-efficient LED technology.
One design element that is specific to electric vehicles developed by Audi - such as the Audi e-tron - are the air intakes in the single-frame grille and behind the side windows on the C-post. They are closed flush under normal circumstances and opened by retracting slats when additional cooling air is required. The slats above the drive unit then also open to provide a better through-flow of air. These measures, too, maximize efficiency - the concept car is outstanding for an already low drag coefficient that is further improved when the flaps are closed.

The combination of aluminum and carbon fiber-reinforced composite material guarantees supreme rigidity coupled with low weight. Audi will soon use this technology in a similar form for future production vehicles. Despite the complex drive system layout with two electric motors and a high-capacity battery system, the total weight of the Audi e-tron Concept on display in Detroit is only around 1,350 kilograms (2,976.24 lb).
The MMI is controlled via a scroll pad with a touch-sensitive surface on the steering wheel ("MMI touch") - an element inspired by modern smartphones. The steering wheel itself is clearly flattened off at both the top and bottom, in a clear reference to motor sport.
A smartphone that can be integrated into the front section of the center console interfaces between the vehicle, the driver and external information sources. The driver can use a suitably equipped conventional smartphone as a car phone, address database, navigation system and video player. At the same time they can also use it as an operating unit for many specific on-board systems in the Audi e-tron Concept. Many phones that are suitable for these functions are already available from various manufacturers.

Characteristic for the concept of the Audi e-tron - and therefore also characteristic for a further development in an electric vehicle - is the near total elimination of switches and small components such as the ignition. The climate control unit is located to the right above the steering wheel. The display provides temperature and ventilation information. Again drawing inspiration from a smartphone, the system is controlled by means of a touch-sensitive sliding control.

The Toyota Corona (Japanese: トヨタ・コロナ) is an automobile manufactured by the Japanese automaker Toyota between 1957 and 2002. The Corona was Toyota's second oldest nameplate, behind the Crown. During Toyotas early days, the Crown, Corona and Land Cruiser were the only vehicles made, with the Corona in multiple body configurations, including trucks and delivery vans. Traditionally, the competitor from Nissan was the Nissan Bluebird. The word Corona is Latin for "crown".



The Corona became massively successful in export markets: confusion easily arises because Toyota (like Volkswagen with their Passat and Mitsubishi with their Colt) applied model names inconsistently in different places. Following the 1969 parallel introduction of the Corona Mark II (which in certain markets mutated into the Cressida in 1973) there were disparate models sharing the Corona name. As time went by, models branded in much of Asia as Coronas turned up in European markets as Carinas, while ten years later in North America the Corona was successfully replaced by the larger Camry. In addition, because of the similarities in names, it is a very common mistake to confuse the Corona with the much smaller Toyota Corolla.

A basic platform is not the one of the COROLLA sedan, and adopts the one for AURIS that can be called COROLLA for Europe. It is a wide body of the width 1760mm and the externals design is the one of a square box type. Interior design is the special one. The position of the shift lever is in the same height as AURIS. The atmosphere only of RUMION of the meter and the horizontal keynote panel design arranged in the vicinity of the center is expressed. Wide luggage space appears if the rear seat of the division variable type is knocked down. Storage such as seat under boxes is also abundant.


The installing engines are 1.5L, 1.8L of straight4, and super-CVT-i is combined with all cars. As for 1.8L car, the shift operation by the paddle is also possible with sequential shiftmatic at 7velocities. Option setting of VSC of antilock brake system only to 1.8Lr car though SRS side & curtain air bag is standard in all cars. The center of the rear seat becomes the seat belt of two point expression.

I think this car is unique because this classic car blackpool tram year 1934. Built 1934.Served Blackpool, England 1934-1984. Market Street Railway receives more queries about this odd–looking English tram than any other car. When the car appears on the F-line, it brings smiles to all who see it go by—its nautical air whistle gaily tooting. This car, No. 228, is actually the second 'Boat Tram' to run on Muni’s tracks. An identical ex–Blackpool tram was leased from the Western Railway Museum in Rio Vista Junction. It was so popular, Trolley Festival project manager Rick Laubscher got an unused Boat donated by Blackpool Transport, with his then–employer, Bechtel, covering the cost of shipping. This car is a tremendous public relations vehicle for Muni, as it demonstrates a sense of whimsy while celebrating San Francisco’s maritime heritage and providing popular transit service to Fisherman’s Wharf, all in one package. All aboard! 1934—Built in England for Blackpool Tramways. Entered seasonal service on that resort’s seacoast line to Fleetwood and other lines. 1976—Loaned to Philadelphia, regauged and repainted for special service during the US Bicentennial (see picture at right). 1984—Acquired as gift to Muni, repainted from Philadelphia livery into original Blackpool green and cream, and restored to standard gauge by Muni crafts workers. Entered service during second Trolley Festival, replacing leased museum car of same type. 1985-87—Operated very successfully in final three Trolley Festivals. 1995—Begins serving F-Market line, built as result of successful Trolley Festivals. 2000—Begins serving F-line extension on Embarcadero to Fisherman’s Wharf. Later made ADA accessible (as single–end car). 2005—Unavoidable accident during pull–in damages car; Muni shops repair it at considerable expense.

Mercedes-Benz is reportedly working on a new sports car based on a shortened version of the 2010 SLS AMG’s platform targeted directly at it. The new Mercedes-Benz sports car will copy the SLS AMG’s aluminum construction but will lose the funky gullwing doors.

Instead, conventional front-hinged doors will be adopted in an effort to bring costs down. The new model will also pick up AMG’s next-generation V-8 engine, a 5.5-liter unit with direct-injection and turbocharging technologies and an output of around 500-horsepower. Acceleration times for the 0-60 mph dash are expected to fall around the 4.5 second mark.

However, there is a company named Resilient Tech give us a new prototype which replaces the key part of tire with a non-pneumatic honeycomb structure. I guess it won’t be comfortable for most drivers, however, you don’t need to worry about tire bursting.

Leicestershire – Lee Noble, the maverick designer and engineer who has defined the British low volume sports car market in recent years, is back in the hot seat of an all-new company, Fenix Automotive Limited, and is due to launch one of the most dramatic supercars of the century next year.

Fenix supercar is believed to be the sequel of the iconic M12 which was a great success but Fenix is a start from the scratch as far as the designing part is concerned. Fenix will be having two models for the grab whereby GM`s 480bhp LS3 V8 will be the `base` unit, while the 6.2-litre supercharged LS9 V8 will provide customers with a 638bhp power option. And powered with 638bhp engine, as Fenix claims, car will get from 0-100mph in less than seven seconds and go on to reach more than 200mph.

With successful production cars like the Noble M12 and M400 already under his belt (as well as the original Ultima and Ascari, among many others) Lee is investing his vast experience in delivering a lightweight, ultra-powerful mid-engined V8 supercar to market by the end of 2010.
“Our new car will offer buyers performance and dynamics that they’d normally have to spend well over £100,000 to experience, but at a far more affordable price,” said Lee Noble. “It will combine simplicity, strength and agility, while its two-seat, closed body will ensure sensible levels of refinement for road use.

With over 25 years’ experience in the low volume sports car market, Lee’s pragmatic approach to producing super-fast, giant-killing cars has won him credibility among buyers and the media alike. In fact, development of the car began in earnest a year ago, and the first prototype, which will be used to validate the all-new chassis and powertrain, is currently being built in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, in the same plant that produced all the M12s.
