Kiprah SMk Kanzen: Mobil Nasional
Mobil nasional (mobnas) bakal lahir dari tangan-tangan terampil siswa-siswi Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) Kanzen yang berlokasi di kawasan Tlogowaru, Kecamatan Kedungkandang, Kota Malang, Jawa Timur. Direktur Pembinaan SMK Depdiknas Dr. Joko Sutrisno, Senin (26/1), mengatakan, mobnas yang bakal lahir dari Kota Malang ini berbeda dengan mobnas Timor beberapa waktu lalu yang diprakarsai Tommy Suharto.
"Mobnas yang diberi merek SMK S UVI itu sekarang masih dalam perakitan dan akan diproduksi massal jika sudah sempurna. Harganya juga tidak terlalu mahal, yakni rata-rata Rp 80 juta per unit on the road," katanya disela-sela kunjungannya ke SMK
10 Malang bersama Mendiknas Prof. Bambang Sudibyo.
Untuk mempercepat realisasi lahirnya real mobnas tersebut, katanya, Depdiknas
telah menandatangani naskah kerja sama (MoU) dengan Kanzen November 2008. Selain memproduksi mobil dengan harga murah, kata Joko, SMK tersebut juga merakit sepeda motor sendiri. Bahkan, yang sudah selesai dan siap pakai juga telah dipesan beberapa konsumen.
Sepeda motor yang diberi merek SMK Kanzen itu seharga Rp 7 juta per unit.
"Dari SMK percontohan ini lahir berbagai produk, selain mobil dan sepeda motor, di sini juga diproduksi laptop murah serta animasi berkualitas," katanya. Menurut dia, seluruh SMK di Indonesia nantinya wajib memiliki laptop yang diawali dari Kota Malang sebagai produsen laptop murah seharga Rp 5 juta per unit.
Menyinggung kompensasi bagi siswa yang terlibat dalam perakitan maupun produksi sepeda motor, mobil, laptop, dan animasi tersebut, Joko mengatakan, semua fasilitas
peralatan dipenuhi oleh pihak sekolah.
"Setiap siswa yang terlibat mendapat keuntungan tak langsung karena mereka hanya bisa praktik dan mengutak-atik berbagai desain. Secara materi mereka akan mendapatkan jaminan makan saja," katanya menjelaskan.

Porsche Cayman: Worlds best sports car
Motor Trend Magazine has chosen the Porsche
Cayman S as the "Best Driver's Car" for 2009. Additionally, the Cayman was
also picked by British car journal Auto Express as "Best Sports Car" in their
New Car Awards 2009. In both cases Porsche's mid-engined coupe won over
experts with its driving dynamics, precision, feedback and response.
Featuring PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplung), Porsche's Double-Clutch Gearbox, the
Cayman S impressed Motor Trend on both regular roads and the race track,
making its way to the top against nine other thoroughbred sports cars. The
test team included select members of the Motor Trend staff as well as two
professional race drivers - Randy Pobst and Massimiliano "Max" Angelelli.
With its circulation of 1.1 million copies and 7.6 million readers, Motor
Trend, an internationally renowned magazine, is acknowledged as one of the
leading car magazines in the USA.
Auto Express, the British car journal, was equally clear in emphasizing that
the Cayman leads the sports car scene with unrelenting efficiency. The title
of "Best Sports Car" was won with the ultimate blend of traction, balance, and
agility. Apart from the characteristic sound of the boxer engines, the testers
also lauded the practical qualities of the Cayman with its two luggage
compartments and large tailgate.

BMW Unveils Advanced Plug-in Sports Car Concept
BMW will be officially unveiling the car at the Frankfurt Motor Show in a couple of weeks, but we're getting a HD preview in the form of the following video.
The car doesn't just get an EcoGeek's approval because of the plug-in system, which can carry the vehicle for 30 miles on a 2.5 hour charge. The 1.5 liter turbo-diesel engine is also extra green, and its placement over the rear axle allows for an extremely low front-end, which decreases drag significantly. Additionally, the concept has been created using extremely light-weight materials and a battery chemistry that allows for less battery weight. Of course, the lighter a car is, the less fuel it has to use.
While the car can drive on electric power alone, it isn't an extended-range electric vehicle like the Volt. The turbo-diesel can re-charge the battery, but it can also be used to power the wheels. The idea is that, if you really want to pull out all of the stops, the diesel engine can kick in and work with the electric engines, thus making the car "perform like a BMW."
