Hartge BMW 1-Series V300+: 550Hp LPG Powered Car To Break Speed Record

“BMWIn conjunction with the University of Technology and Economics in Saarbruecken, the German environment ministry, state economics department officials and automotive and energy specialists, Hartge has developed a prototype version of the BMW 1-Series fitted with a 550Hp strong engine that runs on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Dubbed V300+, the project car will attempt to break the world land speed record by achieving a top speed in excess of 300 km/h. Engines fuelled on LPG are not only cheaper to run than a petrol unit –due to the lower cost of LPG, but they’re also much cleaner and in many cases, produce more power and torque than petrol units of a similar capacity.-Continued after the jump
